Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also known as or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and rarer as systemic exertion intolerance disease (SEID), is a complicated disorder characterized by extreme fatigue that any underlying medical condition cannot explain. It causes profound exhaustion, along with severe cognitive "brain fog" and orthostatic intolerance. The fatigue may worsen with physical or mental activity, but does not improve with rest either. People who have CFS appear to be hypersensitive to even normal amounts of physical or mental exercise or activity.

Performing Swedish and deep tissue massage helps improve circulation, reduce fascial restrictions, and reduce muscle hypertonicity. Such types of massage will also help with the mental state of the client, promoting a sense of well-being.
